In truth, there is another reason why she is so loathe to part with her blade: Recorded in the memory circuits of Virtuous Contract is the data from all her battles and missions. Even when forced to abandon her body and activate a new one, she always seeks to recover it. Virtuous Contract has been 2B's constant companion through countless battles, and she places a great deal of trust in the sturdy sword. Both have been carefully tuned for maximum efficiency in the hands of a YoRHa android. Virtuous Treaty bears similar patterns to Virtuous Contract on its grip, but is imbued with a deeper, more formal meaning. Virtuous Contract is a white blade used by samurai of the East. Weapon & Style Virtuous Contract & Virtuous Treaty Her hair in this costume is now brown and she has darker skin. This version is generally known as 2P, and is used in crossovers. Her Color 2 is the inverse of her Color 1. She becomes emotional at having a chance to finally save the 9S she knows from Engels' attack at the beginning of the game but later shows anger at learning that his memory after their initial rendezvous was lost.ĢB's Color 1 is her YoRHa uniform from the game NiER: Automata. In numerous moments throughout her adventure, 2B expresses frustration and pain with her true role in relation to 9S, hating the cycle they are locked in. In the final battle against Adam, she expresses pure rage and raw hatred for the Machine Leader when she witnesses 9S's critical condition, swearing she would kill him. 2B also exhibits thinly-veiled jealousy when 9S agrees to help the Resistance member in the Amnesia side quest, accusing him of falling for her. For example, she humors 9S when he talks about taking her shopping after the war with the Machines has ended and even uses his preferred nickname of 'Nines', though she quickly takes it back. As she and 9S become closer, she becomes more sociable and willing to engage in conversation. However, 2B occasionally expresses a notably sardonic wit in the face of certain situations and can even be hot-headed at times.ĢB is prone to letting her emotionless guise slip in certain situations. She also has high respect for the chain of command and rarely questions her orders, unlike her partner. As a combat android, she does not encourage idle chatter on frivolous subjects and is generally reticent towards others. However, if removed, her eyes are revealed to be bluish-gray in color.ĢB is a blade of quiet determination. 2B also posesses a visor that wraps around and covers her eyes which she rarely takes off. She also wears thigh-highs and thigh-length heeled boots. She wears her standard YoRHa uniform, which consists of a black puffy sleeved dress with a side slit and bow decorated with feathers and sheer material, with her back and a bit of her bust exposed and white and black gloves. She has short white hair with a headband. She dismissed it as a small glitch in her sensors, but if androids could feel unease, she knew this must be it.ĢB is a female android created by YoRHa. "Proposal: Search for target." Suddenly, she felt a strange sensation-a twinge- on the back of her neck. If that is the mission, I must complete it." "Hostile entity? Not a machine lifeform?" 2B thought aloud. Objective: Destroy the hostile entity, Soul Edge." "Communication received from Bunker," spoke the robotic voice from 2B's tactical support pod. Her sensors detected no machine lifeforms. A search of her language database for an appropriate term returned to words “ancient castle,” and this one appeared to have abandoned long ago. The location 2B arrived and was unlike any she had seen before. The said project was supposed to assert that the human race still exists and that units like herself was to protect what was then, the remnants of humanity. Over the course of hundreds of operations, 2B was forced to kill 9S and wipe his memory countless times, an act that she came to hate for the pain it caused her after bonding with him over that time. In reality, she is an Executioner model, 2E, rather than a Battle-type android as she is named.ĢB's role was to ensure that 9S would not discover the true nature of Project YoRHa by executing him in case he dug too deep because of the natural curiosity programmed into him. She was given the designation of 2B as a cover by the YoRHa Commander, who gave her orders to observe one of the new Scanner models in action during YoRHa's operations against the machines. 5.2 Autonomous Anti-Machine Combat AndroidĢB was created 3 years before the events of the game as part of the new line of YoRHa androids.5.1 Virtuous Contract & Virtuous Treaty.

A day of rest may help us replenish for the week ahead, but it seems unlikely that this is the reason for the Sabbath. In Genesis God does not rest to replenish his strength and prepare for the next week of work. What does it mean to claim that the Sabbath was made for man? So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27-28) He responded to his accusers … “ The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Jesus was called to task for violating the Sabbath, not an unusual occurrence. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. By the seventh day God had completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which he had done. Thus the heavens and earth were completed and all their hosts. To understand this it can help to turn back to Genesis 2:1-3 and to New Testament passages such as Mark 2:23-28. To remember the Sabbath means to observe the Sabbath as a day holy to the Lord. The focus on six days of creation, on rules for work, on a day off (for rest) … it seems to me that all of these miss the point. A few of the thoughts below come from the sermon, but others from other sources. The importance of Sabbath was upheld, but new insights were provided. I started thinking about this because the summer sermon series at the church I attend is working through the Ten Commandments and this one was the subject of a recent sermon. However, the commandments in the Decalogue are not generally among those considered abolished. When should we as Christians observe the Sabbath? For some the question becomes simply should we observe the Sabbath? The commandment to keep the Sabbath may or may not be one of those abolished with the coming of Christ. High on the list is the definition of work. How are we to keep the Sabbath holy? Many different rules have been put forth for keeping the Sabbath in both Jewish and Christian contexts. Churches and organizations supporting young earth creationism will often bring this up. What is the significance of the connection with the creation week of Genesis 1? There are many Christians who hold that this passage in Exodus demands that we understand the creation as six literal 24 hour days. These passages raise a number of questions. You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm therefore the Lord your God commanded you to observe the Sabbath day. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant or your ox or your donkey or any of your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. Observe the Sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Rather the Sabbath is tied more directly to the rescue from slavery in Egypt. And I stationed some of my servants at the gates, that no load might be brought in on the Sabbath day.Deuteronomy 5 adds to our understanding of this commandment, but does not tie the sabbath to the creation week. Tyrians also, who lived in the city, brought in fish and all kinds of goods and sold them on the Sabbath to the people of Judah, in Jerusalem itself! Then I confronted the nobles of Judah and said to them, “What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day? Did not your fathers act in this way, and did not our God bring all this disaster on us and on this city? Now you are bringing more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.” As soon as it began to grow dark at the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut and gave orders that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. And I warned them on the day when they sold food. In those days I saw in Judah people treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them on donkeys, and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of loads, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. ESV / 170 helpful votes Helpful Not Helpful The performances are good all the way through, Wyle is so self-effacing as the nerd turned adventurer that one cannot help but root for him and as for Stana Katic – well she is good in role but, woohoo, she looks absolutely fine as well. The idea of tying Dracula and some form of Chalice together was previously used in similar archaeology/artefact adventure programme Relic Hunter as well as in an Indiana Jones adventure book and probably derives from the legend that Vlad Tepes had a golden cup that was by a well or spring and was never stolen as people well knew their fate if they stole from Vlad. The idea that Judas was the first vampire is not original, Dracula 2001 got there first – though there is no suggestion in this that Dracula and Judas were one and the same, which was the case in the earlier film. However vampires, including her, react quite strongly in the presence of the Judas Chalice – vamping out with glowing eyes and fangs. Simone lives on blood packs (though one assumes she used to hunt and not kill before they became available) and is generally a good vampire. This film began its UK TV run on Sky Movies last night and started airing in the States a week before They know they are not original, they carry references like some folks wear hearts upon their sleeves and they look to have a good old fashioned adventure. You see whilst there is little that is original in these films – though by my looking at this episode here it is obvious that this one features vampires – it really doesn’t matter. But more than that, this is Boys Own Adventures for the noughties. Of course there is absolutely nothing original about the TV films, of which this is the third, there is a great big dollop of Indiana Jones (but let me tell you at this point that I rate this Librarian offering a lot more than I did the recent and inferior fourth film of that series, may the series rest in peace now). The library hosts a secret area (as big as it needs to be) where relics are kept, and the job of librarian has a lot more excitement attached to it then one would immediately believe. ‘The Librarian’ series are a set of films starring Noah Wyle as Flynn Carsen, a librarian at the New York metropolitan library. As part of the SDO mission, three independent instruments are designed for different purposes 2. SDO is a spacecraft in an inclined geosynchronous orbit around Earth capturing full-disk images of the Sun for up to ten years. The SDO mission is an attempt to obtain scientific knowledge that can help to understand the influence of the Sun on Earth 1. NASA’s Living With a Star (LWS) program initiated the Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) mission on February 11, 2010. By improving the quality of the data with thorough curation, we anticipate a wider adoption and interest from the computer vision to the solar physics community. This publicly available resource, along with the generation source code, will accelerate computer vision research on NASA’s solar image data by reducing the amount of time spent performing data acquisition and curation from the multiple sources we have compiled. In this resource, we compile SDO solar data into a single repository in order to provide the computer vision community with a standardized and curated large-scale dataset of several hundred thousand solar events found on high resolution solar images. With such massive amounts of information, researchers have been able to produce great advances in detecting solar events. By capturing approximately 70,000 images a day, this mission has created one of the richest and biggest repositories of solar image data available to mankind. The National Aeronautics Space Agency (NASA) Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) mission has given us unprecedented insight into the Sun’s activity. As you can only take a handful of shots before being knocked out (and needing revival), getting into cover in the wrong place is effectively signing your own death warrant, and is easy to do. If you don't stay fully aware of what's going on around you, you may end up ducking behind something that doesn't really provide all that much cover, leaving yourself exposed to a flanking enemy. As you can't take too much in the way of direct hits, you'll need to be careful to stay in cover as much as possible - which is sometimes easier said than done. In terms of accessibility, Gears of War 4 is a complex game that requires a lot of situational awareness. How easy is Gears of War 4 to pick up and play? Both support both online play, and split-screen. The game has two main multiplayer modes - Horde, which lets up to five players face off against wave after wave of enemies, and the standard multiplayer mode, which supports up to ten players in deathmatch-style encounters. Luckily, your team can stop it by shooting its fluorescent orange stomach - but they'll need to be fast.Īlong with the campaign, every multiplayer mode in Gears of War 4 has split-screen support, letting you take a friend online with you to take on the world. Should it manage it, it'll be game over, and you'll be heading back to the last checkpoint. If snatcher gets to you, its belly will open, and it'll swallow you whole, before trying to make its getaway. Should you fall in combat usually, you can be revived should a team mate get to you in time - but if a snatcher's around, things take on a much more deadly pace. Nothing sums this up better than the snatcher - one of Gears of War 4's most terrifying enemies. While some enemies can be easily defeated on your own, others will require you to work as a team, whether it's having one player act as a distraction while another player scoots in close to get a better shot in, or simply saving each other's life when the time comes. Intended to be played as a team, and with the story having full support for two player co-op, either in split-screen or online, you'll have to work together with your companions (whether AI or otherwise) to take down the game's baddies, known as the swarm. Luckily, getting into cover is as easy as standing in the vague vicinity of something solid, and pressing A, at which point you'll instantly dive into place behind it. While you may be built like a Greek God, you're still as vulnerable as everyone else is to bullets - and so you'll need to regularly duck behind cover, popping up to take a few pot shots every now and then. Rather than tearing in all guns blazing, the key here is to move from cover to cover, ducking behind bits of rubble, fences, and anything solid enough to take more than a few hits. As a cover-based shooter, Gears of War 4 plays very differently to other, more run and gun style games. I also love the korg sledgehammer custom with its AAA battery and bright display. FWIW THE UNITUNE as well as the polytune DOES HAVE STROBE MODE.ĥ if im going break/lose a tuner, peterson is a bit pricey.tc unitune far less so. Unscientific, i have tuned with the tc’s and then clipped on a peterson to check for discrepancies in fine tuning…nadda. Easy to on/off, easy to read in bright sun. I also prefer the separation of the value buttons on the bottom of the tc as opposed to side by side on the peterson.Ĥ i far prefer the tc unitune and polytune. In bright outdoor light, there are times the amber display almost in unreadable. Also headstock contraption versus simple metal clamp/clip is, for me, less than sleek. Why? Mostly brightness and ease of read and selecting instrument mode(i am well versed, you still need to toggle through). Except on 3 saddle teles…ģ like dave, i think they are a bit of a pain. Simple…tune until the bars are stationary. I use my old blue huge version on electrics. And, for me, on bass, hearing low notes is bit harder to dial inĢ they are unequaled for set up/intonation. Especially on stage, in a jam, outside, etc., where i cant always hear. With mando ,and its fast note decay, where i first decided i needed a peterson, a great fast accurate tuner is a no brainer. I have the newest clip and the old blue strobo. They also are much more durable (for me) than the ubiquitous Snark.ġ i like petersons. Very accurate and is faster than anything else in nailing the pitch, indispensable for tuning mandos. I find the TC clipon to be a great tuner. They also are much more durable (for me) than the ubiqitous Snark. The strobe and harmonics revealed that the intonation on the B string on my D18 was sharp, making it impossible to get that perfect ring on a G5 chord. I've found it helpful to use harmonics between strings to get things really dialed in. If your TC is a Polytune, it has a strobe mode which I only use when adjusting intonation. I believe Waverly just released a set of open backs in 1:21. Your present tuners are 1:18, I had the same Grovers on my D-18, they got mushy after 6 months so I replaced them with Gotohs.ġ:21 tuners are helpful (I use them on my tele) but are harder to find. I can't remember what tuners are on my 000-28 nor do I know what "good" tuners feel like but sometimes struggle to dial them in. I do however sometimes hear individual strings being out of tune even after using my TC tuner which is what prompted me to get the strobo. 8:30 PM - Apr 04As if my playing is precise enough to warrant precise tuners. But the slow pace helps you tune into some of the more intimate character moments, and the open-ended approach allows it to gain a little more of an edge in terms of evergreen replay value. If you break down the core loop, it doesn’t seem super impressive on paper. Oh, and the small quality-of-life option to toggle two-player co-op at any time (instead of being at the whim of an inn or save point) is a Godsend if you’re going at it from that angle. In the remake, you can even toggle encounters off entirely (with the exception of boss battles), just in case you wanted to take the exploration angle a little more seriously. It’s the single weakest element of the game, but with the ability to turn battles off if you’re winded, you can choose to focus on some of the more flavorful bosses instead. Combat is extremely floaty, and in some cases, delayed, giving off the air of a classic JRPG while moonlighting as an action system. “Sticking to them,” like a lot of old-school brawlers, is a sound strategy for the majority of these foes. Dungeons typically involve getting to the bottom (or end of the path) and fighting a boss. If you crave an intricate combat system, Legend of Mana might not be for you. I think over time, people have come to love this little gem and appreciate it more. It certainly is for me, having seen two decades of games follow the same tropes over and over. It doesn’t have a grand villain that makes itself known early on, and even the main questline isn’t really in your face.īut to some, that’s a plus. Legend of Mana is likely going to face the same criticisms as Octopath Traveler, in that things mostly feel loosely related, or completely isolated. It’s also still going to be polarizing 20 years later. There are also some pretty insanely weird creatures and characters that only this game can deliver on. The backgrounds are absolutely stunning, and it’s a treat to unlock a new artifact/land just to see how the art team is going to handle it. It still looks lovely with or without a remake, but the enhanced resolution does do it favors. And you probably should lean into the journey, because that’s where Legend of Mana really shines. Sometimes quests involve conversation puzzles, or pure exploration. After completion, you’ll earn at least one artifact (if not more), which then unlocks a new “main quest,” amid other NPC interactions, and so on. The flow of Legend of Mana involves the player character typically exploring a town, finding a questing companion (which can be controlled by another player), then heading into a dungeon. But ultimately, the lack of direction and the open-ended nature in which to approach everything helps Legend of Mana stand out from the pack, even today.Īgain, you’re wandering around this new world yourself, trying to make sense of it amid a very simple combat system and plenty of charming dialogue and character interactions. No matter how you approach it, there is a Mega Man-esque “end” to the narrative, no matter how you choose to snake through the labyrinth. Legend of Mana was very much a product of its era, when JRPGs like Dark Cloud were experimenting with “worldbuilding” and player choice. It’s up to you, as a man or a woman hero (your choice), to collect said artifacts, and rebuild the entire world as you see fit. Legend of Mana ( PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch)įirst, a bit of background to make sense of some of the whimsical entropy.Ī long time ago, the various races of Fa’Diel battled in the wake of a burned Mana Tree (a font of life), and some civilizations were smushed into artifacts. I got to relive that feeling 21 years later and it’s been a delight. In the year 2000, I remember picking up Legend of Mana and being thoroughly confused, then slowly understanding it, and coming to love it. I was a simple child: I saw a Mana game ( or an Evermore!), I rented it and tried it. Squaresoft was having a hell of a time designing Mana games back in the day. It's nice to be able to play a new game on a relatively low-end computer. Three play modes include a galactic conquest mode, a story-driven campaign mode, and an online skirmish mode supporting up to eight players. Victories and defeats will persist throughout the game, causing players on both sides to rethink their strategies as the galaxy changes. An assortment of familiar vessels, troop types, and structures are available to command, from AT-ATs and speeder bikes to X-wings and TIE fighters. Surviving units can then be deployed to the planet's surface to engage in tactical ground battles influenced by both weather and terrain. Yet before players can set foot on one of the over 40 featured planets, including Tatooine, Hoth, and Dagobah, players must first gain orbital control of each planet through space combat. The more star systems under control of the Empire or Rebellion, the more resources it will have to build defense systems, bases, and units. The goal is to defeat the opposing side by gradually taking control of as many star systems and strategic points as possible. Each faction makes real-time choices on a galactic map using available ground troops, fleets, and other units from the Star Wars universe, including such iconic characters as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett. Instead of concentrating on one particular region, players must also consider the ramifications of their actions on other planets as well as in space. Set a few years before the events in Episode IV, the game distinguishes itself by letting players take command of the Rebel Alliance or Galactic Empire throughout the entire galaxy, offering a wider assortment of strategic possibilities. LucasArts and its most popular license from a galaxy far, far away explore the real-time strategy genre for a third time with Star Wars: Empire at War. |
